WHERE HAVE WE BEEN?! Summer 2020 Recap

Well, I never anticipated after posting my last post at the BEGINNING OF JUNE that it would be my last post until AUGUST.
Ugh.
Life gets in the way sometimes... and by life I mean a 9 year old accidentally broke my computer screen and the repair shop held it for weeks on end only to find out they couldn't get a replacement screen sooooo your husband has to go and buy you a new one.

That kind of life ;)

So here I am after a 2 month hiatus with so much to share and a brand new laptop to do it with ;)

Starting with, what the heck have we been up to these last two months?
...allow me to summarize in two words: Baseball and baseball.

Ha! We finished up our delayed baseball season this past weekend and phew that was a doozy.  I am so glad that the boys were able to have a baseball season, but hey, it was hot.

June was my first full month back in the office after all of the crazy 'rona stuff.  Thank you, thank you, thank you Lord for offices ;) I missed my normal routine BADLY!

BASEBALL....

The Rays and the Dragons both had GREAT seasons!

Game balls were given... (neither boy struck out AT ALL this season!)

So proud of these two boys.
It. was. HOT!
and I never heard either of them complain one time.

On top of the great season these boys had, I had the BEST TIME with these group of ladies...
Forever grateful to have spent the summer with this bunch!  ...We may have only gotten nearly kicked out of the game once ;)

When we weren't eating and breathing baseball..

We were flying kites, playing outside, going swimming and having all kinds of summer fun.

We were also able to escape for a week and go on vacation (more on that in the next few days!)

Lake kept getting cuter and cuter ;)...

...and dirtier!

...and then he got his first haircut and I spent the rest summer crying in the corner.

...Kidding. Well, actually not because soon afterwards...

...I turned 30.
Ouch.
I'm only a week or so in and i'm not sure how I feel about it yet ;)

Well, that's where we've been!  I'm so happy to get back to my posting routine and sharing our crazy life with everyone.

See you TOMORROW (praise hands!)

a little bit of life [5.29.20]

It's FRIDAY! YESSSS!
My man is headed out for a weekend guys trip to celebrate a friend of ours getting married and a few of the 'left behind' wives and I are going to get together and have some girl time #whendoesthateverhappen.

I'm keeping it simple and sweet today and showing ya'll a little bit of life lately...

...just three brothers casually bonding over 'Go Dog Go', haha!

A few days before the 'official' last day of school, I had to bring the boys to their school to get all of their things and say goodbye to their teachers (I didn't snag one of Mason - we couldn't even go into his classroom :().
...just saying that is so bizarre.  I can't imagine being a teacher and walking into my classroom that has been left untouched, kept with every intention of the seats being filled the next morning.  This was hard.  I hurt for my two third graders and my first grader.  I hope next year is their best year yet to overcast this yuck shadow.

I have never seen a baby/toddler love books as much as this boy does.  He is ALWAYS grabbing a book and flipping through the pages. I hope his love for books lasts a lifetime!

I was home grabbing a quick bite for lunch and ran into this handsome man on his way out to do some yard work.  I love working so close to home so I can pop in on my lunch time ;)

...Yep! We're still walking and walking and walking some more :) As strange as it sounds, this pandemic has brought a lot of positive changes to our lifestyle over here!

My kids kept asking me if I actually took their pictures to my office (you can read more about that here) so I snapped this photo before heading out one day to prove it ;) ha!
Seeing all these sweet faces during the day is nice, i'll have to admit!

Hey Corb!!
Corbin got this bike for his birthday and has been riding it nonstop.  I love that he still thinks it's cool to wave at me in front of his friends while he speeds by ;)

Baseball around here returns THIS WEEKEND and you can bet your bottom this boy is READY!

Ugh! Ok, this got me right in the feels.  On my first day back at work, I drove out of the drive way and saw Lake's head peeping out the window watching me leave.
...and then the next day, he was more prepared and immediately brought his shoes to me while I was getting ready cause he was all 'I know you're leaving and I'm coming, too, k?'
...and then I texted my boss and was all 'I'll be working from home from now until he graduates from high school'
...I actually sent that text message. ha!

Just a bunch of neighborhood boys doing neighborhood boy things...
We have TONS of kids that live in our neighborhood and it couldn't make

This one. He is wild.
...he climbs on EVERYTHING.

These are our 'WE FINALLY WENT TO EAT AT THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT' faces because WE FINALLY DECIDED TO GO EAT AT THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT AND IT MADE ME SO SO HAPPY!!
..Yay for glimmers of normalcy!

Well, there's your random assortment of our life lately!

Have a great weekend!

a little bit of life. [5.14.20]

Here's a glimpse into what we've been up to lately!
(Spoiler: it's a lot more of the same 'cause #rona)

I was asked to make not one but TWO adorably sweet invitations this week and it just made me happy! Happy because...
*gasp*
What are parties? What are invitations?
Does this mean some normalcy is headed this way?
I love making invitations - and i'd love to make one for you, too! Message me if you're in need of one :)

I was headed to the kitchen on this particular morning to grab my cup of coffee and noticed how clean my living room was...
...and then I realized that my toddler was still upstairs sleeping and it was only a matter of time before he would barrel down the stairs to wreak utter havoc ;)

I was in the kitchen making dinner on this particular evening and peeped out in the living room to find this.  Four guys just casually watching some guy on YouTube purposefully getting bit by a snapping turtle.  They thought it was awesome because #boys.

Just three guys solving life's problems over a PB&J.

Our backyard has quickly become a football field and I'm not mad about it...

I was getting ready to squeeze in a little 'Yoga with Adrienne' and this sweet hunk of a boy came in from playing with his friends and decided to join me.  I hope there are plenty more days ahead where he'll still wanna come practice Yoga with him momma :)

Tyler thinks that Lake is all 'what a beautiful yard of green grass you have there, Dad' and I'm thinking that Lake is all, 'when are you going to plant Mom's flowers?' ;)

I snapped this photo as I was getting ready to make Taco Salads because it just looked too pretty not to.  I love brightly colored fruits and veggies!

Mason has really taken on to skateboarding
...at the worst. possible. time.
He was all 'HEY MOM, TAKE A VIDEO OF THIS!!' and I was all 'WE CANNOT GO TO THE ER RIGHT NOW!!!'
...nevertheless, he's doing really well and it's pretty cool to watch him do his thing!

I plan to do a post on our 'nighttime routine' soon, so for now, i'll leave you with this.
My heart can't take the love these two have for each other.

My boys gift to me for Mother's Day.  I'm so excited to try out some of these recipes and can't wait to share some of them with you all!

Heart and hands full of boys.
Would have never dreamed in a million years that i'd be a mom to FOUR boys... but oh my gosh, I would never have it any other way. God is good.

We went to my mom and dads to celebrate Mother's Day/ Corbin's Birthday/ Liam's Birthday.
Fun fact: BOTH of these boys were born on Mother's Day.  Isn't that crazy?
I think it is so special.

I was having my coffee in the living room before gearing up for my work day and looked over to find Tyler doing his quiet time.  I love how much he devotes himself to being the best leader he can be for our household.

Phew. That's a little bit of life lately around here!

See you tomorrow for some of my Friday Favorites!

a little bit of life [4.16.20]

Our little bit of life is really looking about the same these days...

...still walking, walking, walking.  It has been SO nice outside lately (of course, as I type this Tyler and I are talking about how it had SNOWED this week!)

This guy is getting all. the. exercise.

See? Ha!
We have been doing our yoga in the evenings after Lake goes to bed but on Friday, we figured we'd knock it out early...
...we've had better ideas.

This one had a Zoom meeting with his classroom on Friday and got to "bring" a show and tell item!  He picked his basketball tournament champion trophy.

...and then proceeded to tell the class that *THIS* (shows golden, smaller trophy - THAT ANOTHER KID HAD JUST SHARED!!) is "just a participation trophy" and *THIS* (shows larger trophy) is "is the trophy that *insert other child's name WHO HAD JUST SHOWN HIS PARTICIPATION TROPHY* would've gotten if his team won the championship, which my team did...

...I mean he isn't wrong?
I would be lying if I didn't say that I BUSTED OUT LAUGHING and swiftly followed my laughter up with a "hey man, be nice" cause I was scared that the other moms were gonna come and get me.

...We are just missing our little league sports, that's all ;)

...I snapped this one over the weekend and, I mean, should I get him an agent?
I know this might sound a little biased but Lake Welch, you are BEAUTIFUL!

Granny stopped by on Easter and got all. of. the. lovins.

Yes, I do chase him around with a camera ;)

I snapped this Monday morning as I was heading into the office
...and by heading into the office I mean I just made up my bed (aka: my recent workspace) shut my bedroom door, and turned on my computer. #thanksrona

Speaking of my new office...

Corb came to keep me company as he was doing his morning reading and then...

My older ones started filing in soon after... I didn't mind it :)

Hi, hey, hello my name is Emily and I have recently become obsessed with lemon water.
I realized the other day when I sat down for dinner that I had not drank ANYTHING all. day. long. aside from my morning cup of coffee.
...and then the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I did the same thing the day before... and the day before that, too?!
Que me literally going to the pantry and chugging a bottle of water because I thought for sure any second my kidney's were going to fail.

Listen. I am no 'I drink 8 glasses of water a day' kind of person clearly.  Really, I'm not a 'drinker' of anything except wine. And when I see my friends just walking around sipping on water FOR THE FUN OF IT day in and day out (looking at you, Erica..) I want to hurl.

...Not that I don't 'like' water, I do like water.. I just don't drink it for the fun of it.

...but after realizing that i've basically been depleting my body of any sort of hydration for, um, awhile, I decided to grab a cup, fill it with ice, throw a bunch of lemons in there and drink, drink, drink water all day long.

..and now I'm kind of obsessed and have sort of made a game out of how much water I can drink in one day.

I know. I'm losing it.
...but I actually feel pretty darn good and healthy ;)
...because, you know, my body isn't on the brink of dehydration.

There you go.  There's your PSA for today: Drink water.
Actually, just don't blindly dehydrate yourself like I had made a habit of doing ;)

Well, there's a little bit of our life lately.
We are so ready for some normalcy around here!

See you tomorrow!
